Hi-fi-burn-in

Burn in headphones to break them in.

What is burn-in process? Well, if you have just got a pair of high quality earphones you may need to know about the burn-in process.

High quality earphones require certain break in time, called burn-in. High-end earphones may sound mediocre when taken right our of the box. However, after the burn-in time the earphone is “warmed up” and has an increased sound quality on most of its frequencies. The burn-in process can take up to a hundred hours, but the quality of the sound will stay on top during the whole lifetime of the earphones.

There are several ways to burn-in your earphones. You can either listen to your music as usual or use certain software that plays white or pink noise sounds to sweep all the frequencies.

The first solution with playing your ordinary music may not give the best result as some frequencies might not be burned-in properly.

The second solution is more recommended to reach that perfect quality of your earphones.

To burn-in your new headphones, proceed with following:

1. Get a software made for burning in the earphones or make a playlist with several sounds. These sounds are white noise, pink noise or frequency sweep.
For example: Burn In App from AppStore and Google Play.

2. Attach the earphones to your phone and start the software leaving your earphones with moderate sound level for several hours at a time. It is also good to give the earphones some rest, pausing the burn-in process for some hours in order not to damage the earphones.

There is no rule on how long you should run the burn-in process. However an estimated time of 100-150 hours should be enough to break in your new earphones.
